Duprey, a former chef and commodities trader who lives in Watervliet, is spending his savings on the Globesavers, a line of children's toys, clothing and accessories that have an educational and environmental theme. What Duprey has found is that of all of his costs, from finding a manufacturer to creating a Web site and hiring a salesman, protecting his intellectual property has been the most challenging -- and costly.

Duprey, who has an investor backing him and is seeking others, has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on his business and started working full time on the endeavor about a year ago.

Holland Patent boys win in OT

SYRACUSE -- The Holland Patent boys basketball team won the Section III Class B-1 title with a 69-68 overtime victory over Marcellus in Friday's final at Manley Field House.

Sixth-seeded Holland Patent advanced to Tuesday's overall Class B final at a neutral site. The Golden Knights will face the winner of Friday's Class B-2 final between Canastota and Hannibal.
